I cannot recommend the venue hire for Molly Malone’s more highly. Naomi was excellent to work with, and she made having my 30th there an absolute dream. Perfect relaxed North Queensland vibes but with some old school glamour in the upstairs area made it a night to remember! The bar staff was excellent, the food was great and an overall painless booking process and communication with Naomi made it a stress-free night. I and 3 friends visited this pub while passing through Townsville a couple of weeks back. We weren’t expecting much excitement given it was a Wednesday night. We were very wrong. By 10 pm the place was full of people all having a good time. The guys running the bar were the life and soul of the party, especially the big guy with a fantastic beard. We hired out the back function room and it came along with the beer garden with 100-150 guests for our Mother’s 50th birthday last week. Our whole family is so happy with the outcome and the help of staff from Chloe the Manager to Dani the Assistant Manager, the two bartenders, and the security guard that were working on the night and we can’t forget the amazing chef that worked so hard to cater to our needs with his awesome platters! I think he did up to 33 platters all up (I think) 100% recommend it!
They let us set up at 10 am on the day and set everything out how we wanted, let us put a USB on the tv to show photos of Mum, had things ready straight away when we asked, and were quick to reply whenever I had questions. We left the night on a good note and they dealt with the mess the next day as they have cleaners. It made it easy for us to celebrate and not have to stress over anything whatsoever

A good place to chill after exploring the town. It was warm if not hot in far North Queensland. They brew their beer locally and I must say, I enjoy them. I had the beer paddle, I forgot how much but it surely didn’t cost a fortune. The beer was refreshing and light. They do come with unique names and interesting illustrations. The chip was generous serving for under $10. Inside it has a few pool tables and a big screen for footy. The service was friendly and fast. The brewery is adjacent to the old post office building, very nice for a photo shoot, and located in the town center. Don’t forget to drop by if you happen to visit Townsville.

Couldn’t fault a thing! With it being such a busy morning for Mother’s day you’d expect something a miss but the service, food wait time, food, juices, atmosphere, cleanliness & services were all perfect. There was even mosquito spray & sunscreen provided. It was my family’s first visit & I am looking forward to it becoming our new regular restaurant/bar/cafe/breakfast spot!
Menu & cafe choices were excellent with all the favs. There was something for everyone. As a mum of 4 (18mnths-10yrs), I have to give a special mention to the excellent playground. We sat close by and after the kids ate we watched them play happily. There is also a pool for patron’s use!!!

Dinner last night at The Sun. The meals were great sizes. The fish and chips pictured here were small. The pasta with prawns was delicious. The staff was friendly and the delivery of the meals was fast and well-presented. Renovations are due to begin on the 8th or 9th of October for about 2 months so get in fast if you’re in the area now. Our first visit and looking forward to going back!
